When a classic ‘monday’ strikes…
Okay, raise your hands if you’ve ever experienced a classic ‘monday’. You know what I’m talking about.
Monday morning, when you set your alarm to get up a little earlier than usual, because there are a few extra things you need to make sure get done. Things that are going affect the entire week.
You’re an hour into a strong front crawl when… Dunuh, dunuh, dunuhdunuhduh! (that’s the Jaws soundtrack, in case anyone was wondering). A Giant financial institution sneaks up behind you and sinks it’s teeth into your flesh! Your right arm no less! The very limb you need, to pick up the phone and type an email, in order to trouble shoot the situation.
Into these bloody waters now swarm a school of jellyfish. With no way out, the incessant stinging begins. The 1-800 # for VISA tells you ‘the customer you are trying to reach is unavailable…”, uhhhh, I thought I was the customer here? The computer on which you are trying to work, keeps crashing for no apparent reason. When you finally do manage to get the Shark on the phone, you are transferred 5 times before you are told there is nothing they can do. After they’ve managed to imply that your phone call is wasting their time.
The jellyfish do not let up, as you go to make some coffee and realize that there ISN’T any. The program that you were going to use to VJ your upcoming show, doesn’t seem to open any more, with no explanation. Still need to get those extra handbills printed to promote the show for friday. And have to make sure the duplicators ship the CD’s TODAY!
You’re now a few hours into the dark and turbulent waters of Monday, and you’re hoping for a glimpse of rescue.
Just as you’re about to go into total meltdown, you see a few members of your Tribe paddling towards you.
My tribe is full of big hearted, jump-through-hoops-for-you, anything-you-need, kind of people.
So they rolled up their sleeves and dove right in. Before I knew it, I had the extra handbills printed and cut. VISA got a decent punch to the nose (isn’t that what you’re supposed to do in a shark attack?) The CD’s got shipped. Despite the fact that the VJ software is still unresponsive… me and the tribe have managed to keep swimming even when one of us down by one limb.
Monday’s not over yet, but I’m feeling the tribe vibe and that’s more powerful than any sucker-punch a classic ‘monday’ can throw.
Here’s to the people who get us through manic mondays.
